2002 PRESIDENT'S CUP / DISTRICT CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

This year, the WSYSA President's Cup tentatively begins during the last 2 weekends in October, with District Champions being determined the weekend prior to Thanksgiving. The District Champions will compete in the State Finals typically held during the 1st weekend of December. If inclement weather forces postponement of the State Finals weekend, the following weekend will be used. The State Final sites are listed in the WSYSA Coaches Handbook. This tournament is open to all U-11 through U-19 Recreation teams which are registered with WSYSA. Select teams are not eligible for this tournament. Team rosters will be verified and signed by your Association Registrar. Absolutely no player transfers or guest players are allowed. Please note that teams that do enter the President's Cup are ineligible for entering the Championship or Commissioners Cup. Also, a player may participate in only one of the three tournaments.

  1. FORMAT OF THE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT
    1. The tournament will consist of the District Round, held within DISTRICT 2, and the State Finals Round. The District Round will produce a District Champion for each age group, who will represent the District in the State Finals Round.
    2. The District Round format will vary based on the number of entrants. For most age groups, a "World Cup" format will be used, where groups will compete in a 2-3 game round robin with the teams gaining the most points advancing to the quarters, semi's or finals. Games played in the round robins may end in a tie. All other games will be decided by first, a sudden death overtime period (Two 5 minute periods). If teams are still tied after the overtime periods, the game will then be decided by PK's.
    3. The schedules will be distributed to the coaches at a mandatory coaches meeting held in mid-October. Additional information regarding this meeting will be forwarded to you in September. The schedules will also be posted on the district website.
  2. ADMINISTRATION
    1. All games leading up to the District Final will be played at various sites within District 2.
    2. A Tournament Committee has been formed to assist in running the tournament, including field and referee acquisition.
    3. The entry fee of $200.00 must accompany the entry form, which includes the team roster. The District 2 deadline for entry into this tournament is September 20th . Check with your Association for their entry deadline as the application must first be signed off by your Association registrar. The application form can be found in the WSYSA Coaches Handbook and on the WSYSA website.
